How does the Fire Conclave Council decide where your fire groups are placed around the Great Circle? Probably the best kept secret on the playa, right?
Well, here’s an inside look at the process…
Though it may seem at times that conclave groups within the Great Circle are placed randomly or haphazardly, there is actually a lot of thought and consideration put into it, with the outcome being a perfectly balanced collaboration of beauty and fire. In our opinion, the best view of the Man on burn night is from straight on at both the 6:00 and 12:00 positions. With this in mind, we try to place what we feel are some of the year’s best conclave groups in these areas.
However, this doesn’t mean that we don’t give as much thought to the rest of the Great Circle. We do.
From here, our goal is to evenly distribute a variety of performance styles and skill levels in an effort to ensure that the audience is provided with great entertainment regardless of where they are positioned around the Man. We also want you all to have an opportunity to sneak peaks at the groups next to you and hopefully gain some new inspiration for next year.
So don’t be discouraged or disappointed in your placement. No matter where you are placed throughout the Great Circle, remember that you have been given an opportunity to be a part of something truly amazing. A collaborative entity of talented individuals who come together to dance in celebration of doing something they love. Sharing the fire and changing lives forever…
